Raptor Notes: Another good flight but counting was a challenge with streams of birds a mile to the south and a mile to the north at the same time, and relatively few birds overhead.
Non-raptor Notes:Many new arrivals but only small numbers of birds and no noteworthy counts. An Eastern Whip-poor-will was calling at the North Lookout last night at dusk and this morning at dawn.

Weather: Overcast with W-NW wind, drizzle throughout the day, and dense fog by 3 pm. The fog lifted around 5 pm but it remained overcast with drizzle and there was not another push of birds.
Raptor Notes: Well that’s not something you see every day: large kettles of Broad-wings moving through drizzle and dense fog- there was often less than a minute when the birds were visible overhead in the fog before they disappeared again. A dark morph Swainson’s appeared amongst one of these kettles. With the horrible flight conditions it seems obvious that many birds were missed.
Non-raptor Notes:Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Baltimore Oriole were among the new arrivals today, Also counted 11,100 Red-winged Blackbirds, 652 Rusty Blackbirds, 502 Common Grackles.
Next Day Forecast: Sunny with light west wind and a high of 62, seems quite likely to be a good day, especially for Broad-wings.

Weather: Very strong SE wind, variable cloud cover, 47-68 degrees F.
Raptor Notes: Fairly slow but steady raptor flight in the morning, but after noon the flight really picked up, when the birds became very spread out and disorganized, necessitating a move to the south lookout despite the very strong SE wind, with migrants still passing over the north lookout and many others moving well inland from the south lookout- a very challenging flight to count.
Non-raptor Notes:1 Green Heron, 1 Glaucous Gull, 1 Chimney Swift, 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, 2 Palm Warblers, 2 Pine Warblers, 283 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 13,180 Red-winged Blackbirds, 827 Rusty Blackbirds, 3770 Common Grackles, 69 American Goldfinches.

Raptor Notes: An incredible push of Turkey Vultures in the morning when a continuous stream of over 5,000 passed by in a little over an hour, with many buteos sprinkled among the vultures. Unfortunately the remainder of the day was quiet with drizzle and cold NW wind.
Non-raptor Notes:Very high flight of blackbirds in the morning including 2800 Red-winged Blackbirds and 18,400 Common Grackles.
